  Changing Your Screen Resolution

In order to enhance your enjoyment of the new redesigned Freeserve Website, we have set out an outline of the steps you may wish to take to alter the resolution of your PC screen.

Warning
Before doing so, please consult your user handbook to confirm that your PC has the required properties to make these changes - if it doesn't you may cause damage to your PC set up.

PC:

  1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display.
  3. Select the Settings tab.
  4. In an area labelled Screen Area or Desktop Area you will see a slider. Your screen size is indicated below this slider (see picture below)
  5. Move the slider to the right using the mouse until this reads at least 800 by 600 pixels.
  6. If there is a Test button, click this to test your new screen resolution. If the test is successful, click OK.
  7. Otherwise, click Apply.

You may need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Please consult the manuals for your graphics card and your monitor to ensure that they can support this resolution otherwise you can cause irreversible damage.

Mac:

  1. Click the Apple Menu in the top left of the screen, and select Control Panels, Monitors.
  2. Under Resolution select a resolution of at least 800x600. (see picture below)

Please consult the manuals for your graphics card and your monitor to ensure that they can support this resolution otherwise you can cause irreversible damage.
