Debenhams Winter Sale TV Advert (1994)

The advert begins with a animation of the Debenhams “D” logo appearing. A flock of birds form the word S A L E in the sky. These birds then fly out of shot to the left. We then cut to a boy with red gloves making a snowball which he throws and hits a tree. The Debenhams “D” logo then appears on the tree. This then cuts to a picture of two people (with a red hat and a yellow hat) hugging eat other. These same people are then seen walking towards a small house in the snow. The shot then changes to the door of the house opening, revealing a couple with a dog sitting in front of a fireplace. The shot then zooms into the fireplace which then fades out to a beige background in which the Debenhams “D” logo floats in from above. The slogan “The Difference is Debenhams” then appears.

My Comments

Unfortunately this advert ruined my enjoyment for the Sail On song as I always think The Commodores are singing about a bloody Christmas department store sale.
